I would use an disposable makeup sponge-- they are inexpensive and you can find them at any drugstore. Or I would invest in a MAC foundation brush (from maccosmetics.com)-- the kind with the flat top, called a skunk brush. They are famous for flawless application, and the shipping right now is free. I wouldn't use my fingers, because the oils on my hands could make my skin all icky. How do you apply dream matte mousse foundation?

To perfect your skin tone, start by applying foundation down the center of your face first. Use just a small amount of makeup and blend it in thoroughly. Layer more if necessary to achieve the coverage you want.
Use your fingers to apply cuz the heat from your fingers will help the mousse to absorb into skin better and thus give you an even looking skin. Make sure you wash your hands first before you start. I personally think this product is not suitable for dry skin as its not hydrating enough and so will not use on dry skin and during winter season.
When I used to use this product, I found that this was the best method:
Using a kabuki brush (the short fat ones)-- these you can find mostly anywhere, even CVS or Walgreens for a few dollars.
1) Dab the brush in the pot of foundation.
2) Swirl the brush around in the lid of the jar, to help spread out any clumpiness that was on the brush
3) Lightly swirl the brush on your face, and dab if nessecary.
4) Set with just a touch of pressed powder.
When using the Dream Matte foundation and this method, I got tons of compliments on my skin. If you do it right (you'll develop a feel for the makeup the more you use it) you'll wind up with a really even, airbrushed (perfect skin!) look.
I've never used a foundation brush, and I get compliments on my make up pretty frequently. Fingers have worked the best, especially for the ';dream matte mousse'; I used that for a while. Just make sure hands are clean before you rub them all over your face ;)
I just use my fingers. A little goes a long way I apply dots to each cheek, my chin, forehead and nose then, blend in with my fingers and then add little dots in between where needed.
I have learned that it stays better if you throw a little loose powder over it.
do not use brush, or sponge or anything! it will be SOO uneven! use your fingers!! put it on even, not to much, Dont put the foundation on in the dark, or in a too bright place, (: do not put in your brows love (:
