What does it mean for a foundation to have a matte finish?

whats a natural or sheer finish then?What does it mean for a foundation to have a matte finish?
A Matte Finish is best if you have oilier skin, as it absorbs oil and covers shinyness ( if thats a word).

A Natural finish allows your skins natural moisture balance show through, be it shiny, or drier.

Sheer finish gives you a more dewey look, along with a sort of ';glow.';What does it mean for a foundation to have a matte finish?
matte: looks like you put powder on your face

Natural: has a dewy sheen, like natural skin (you'll notice that natural well moisturized skin is not matte)

Sheer: means it'll let your skin show through, does not have full coverage. Mostly those are tinted moisturizers
Matte finish: Just plain, no shimmer, shine, or anything.

Natural: Looks natural, lol. Just looks like you don't have any makeup on.

Sheer: A lighter foundation that is dewy looking.
matte generally means a bit thicker and it has a flat not a shiny finish

natural is more of a medium coverage and sheer is light coverage
Matte: Not shiny.

Sheer: Little coverage.

Natural: Looks like you aren't wearing makeup.
Matte is not glossy or shiny like a coin or glass. Natural would be like natural wood or sheer would be a clear coat over the texture!
matte= not shinny, almost dull

natural= looks like normal skin

sheer= a little shine to it, a glow
Flat, not shiny.

Not cake-like, or hardly noticeable.
It can also mean that it is textured.
It means a smooth, even finish, not shiny looking..
Not shiney.
no shine or shine
not shinney
not shiny
basically it means its not shiny.

Edit: Wow, we all said like the same thing three seconds apart.
It just means no shine! Like a powder effect
its not shiny
idk
