I am new at makeup. I washed my face, applied some mousterizer and toner and then the concealer. I then applied the matte powder but when I smile i can see the flakes on the apples of my cheeks? Can anyone tell me as to where am I going wrong? How to end the powdery/flaky look after applying foundation and matte powder?
more moisture- it's flakey because your skin/makeup is too dry! try dabbing on some moisturizer after you apply the foundation and dont use powder! or at least not in that area- you may be using too much powder also. The best way to apply powder is to use a large powder brush- dab the brush in the powder and then hit the side of the brush againt the side of the container or counter or whatever to get all the access powder off the brush before applying to your face. You should also practice that when applying shadow/powder eyeliner. How to end the powdery/flaky look after applying foundation and matte powder?
Matte foundation makes dry skin flakier. Having said that, use mineral makeup like Everyday Minerals to have a natural coverage.
You probably need to exfoliate- try getting some St. Ives Apricot facial scrub (not expensive, works great) and using it once a week or so.
First, don't forget that the toner is the second step - wash, tone then moisturize.
After moisturizing, let your moisturizer absorb for a few minutes before applying foundation. After applying your foundation, let it completely set and dry before powdering. That should fix it.
Let your lotion dry completely on your face before you apply your foundation.
It's also that time of year when everyone's skin gets dry.
You need the right products, that is EVERYTHING.
I am a professional makeup artist for 20 years and I suggest the following for optimum results.
1. Cleanse- Papaya Enzyme Cleanser - Bee Luscious Cosmetics
2. Tone with Papaya Enzyme Toner
3. Moisturize with Hydrating cream concentrate
4. Apply Liquid Powder mineral foundation
You will be good to go.
What many ladies don't understand is that the lotions especially the cheap ones are filled with alcohols so it actually dry's out your skin even more. You are young so start NOW with a good reputable skincare company like Bee Luscious, you only have one complexion take care of it.
well, before u put it it on, put it on the lid of the container its in. add a little bit of water 2 the dish and swish ur brush around in the mixture! it works!
You dont want to use both. Use a concealer and a loose bronzer or powder and brush the powder on with a big make-up brush. Foundation works well as a substitute for concealer also but I never put concealer all over my face. I only put concealer on my nose, under my eyes, chin, and in the eyebrown region and if i have a blemish. Concealer is not used all over your face just to ';conceal'; the small things. Hope I was of some help.
If your face is dry to begin with make sure that your moisturizer actually works for your skin. To do this, wait 5 mins. after applying it and if your skin still feels dry then you need to switch to something else! Don't use toner more than 3 times a week if you have dry skin, either! It just dries it out more. Your concealer should go on after the foundation and only on trouble spots. Remember, it should closely match your foundation shade, otherwise it will act as a highlighter! Try not to use too much powder, either, as this tends to dry out your skin, also! My skin is combination, so in the dry areas I use a matte foundation that I have added some Ponds Cold Cream to and then apply it with a makeup sponge! It works great! Good luck and keep experimenting!!
apply toner before moisturizer. Then, right after you use your toner, mix ur moisturizer with your foundation. Mix it really good. and then put it on your face.
What kind of toner did u put on after your moisturizer? because if its toner/astringint, you are suppose to put that on before you moisurize. After you apply your moisturizer you should wait at least 5 minutes to allow your skin to soak it in before applying any kind of powder. How did you apply your powder? If you applied it with the sponge that comes with most powders, it will give you caky look no matter what you do. You need to buy a powder brush and apply it that way. It gives you coverage but doesn't cake on you. Good luck :)
